Libby’s Story:
“I found Inlet, or rather Inlet found me, by chance. I danced all throughout my childhood and into college, but found my true skills in the administrative realm. After having my first child, we moved to Cleveland from NYC to be close to family, but not having any professional connections to this new city whatsoever. As a total stranger, Pam Young from DANCECleveland was kind enough to meet with me, learn about my background, and give me an overview of the dance community in Cleveland. Then out of the blue about a month later, Bill Wade contacted me having recently spoken to Pam. I came to see my first Inlet performance at MetroHealth Hospital in the atrium near the ER. I’d never seen a professional dance company perform in a hospital, not to mention an extremely talented and compelling group, perform with as much passion as one would in a theater setting. After the performance, Bill and I had coffee at the hospital, among ALL of the other company dancers (I guess it was a group interview??!), and from that moment, I knew it was a perfect fit! The family atmosphere and supportive environment was exactly what I had been craving. The passion and beauty seen in the choreography, is reflected in Inlet’s business model, which a not a common occurrence. I’m grateful for all of the experiences at Inlet that have allowed me to grow and pushed me beyond what I imagined. Just another example, albeit not the typical scenario, of Inlet using dance to further people.”
