Meet another Inlet Board Member. These individuals go unnoticed, working endlessly to help push Inlet’s mission, “using dance to further people.” This month we are going to feature Suzanne Wilkins! Thank you, Suzanne, for all the amazing work you do for Inlet Dance Theatre. You are greatly appreciated.
“As a lover of dance, I’ve attended many spectacular Inlet performances at Cain Park and in February 2013, I volunteered to help set up an Inlet dance performance at Church of the Saviour. It was awe-inspiring to see the company up close and personal in the Church’s newest space. Linda (Merriam), a church member, was on the board of inlet and asked if I would be interested in serving. I am so glad I said Yes!
Bill runs an organization that focuses on people. Libby (managing director) is top-notch! Bill gathers dancers and offers them the opportunity to grow, professionally, personally and emotionally. He creates educational programming and takes it to the people. Kids, college students, senior citizens, and even donors, get to experience dance with Inlet. Dances are collaborations that speak to the social issues of the day or are created to be entertaining and joyful.
The Board is a collection of committed, smart and fun people dedicated to ensuring that Inlet Dance Theatre continues to exist as an arts and culture organization, but more importantly, we’re here to help Bill live out the mission, Using Dance to Further People. And as Board secretary, I get to record it all!
Why I joined Inlet Dance Theatre? – I was asked. Why I stay? – The people”
