Meet another Inlet Board Member. These individuals go unnoticed, working endlessly to help push Inlet’s mission, “using dance to further people.” This month we are going to feature our fantastic Vice Chair, Lisa Boyko! Thank you, Lisa, for all the amazing work you do for Inlet Dance Theatre. You are greatly appreciated.
“I’ve had the privilege of serving Inlet Dance theatre as a board member for the last 10 years. The beauty of their art form drew me in first – not surprisingly, as I am a musician and a lover of art. But the content of their work is what convinced me that Inlet is a very special organization. Time and again I have been profoundly moved by a truth-speaking or uplifting message from an Inlet piece, and I’ve witnessed the powerful impact their performances have on an audience.
As I have gotten to know Inlet “from the inside out” I’ve been continually impressed by the generous and loving spirit of the dancers – toward each other, toward the trainees they mentor in the studio, toward the students they teach in schools and community centers, and toward the clients they work with on special events. The dancers truly live out their mission to “use dance to further people” as they seek to serve others and build them up through every interaction.
This sense of calling, as well as the work ethic which drives them to pursue excellence in their art, comes from founder and artistic director Bill Wade. Throughout his career, Bill has sown the seeds of passion for dance and compassion for people into every dancer that has worked with him and every student that has studied with him. Through my association with him on the Inlet board, I have been inspired and challenged to open my own eyes and heart to the people and needs around me.
Add to all this the cheerful and tireless support of our managing director Libby Koba, the dedication of our board, and the enthusiasm of hundreds of fans across our community. I feel that I want to continue to invest in and be a part of this Inlet family for a long time to come!”
