Elizabeth’s Story:
“I first encountered Inlet Dance Theatre at a summer program in Texas, right before my senior year in college. I was really impressed by the people from the company I met and enjoyed the classes I was able to take (Non-Traditional Partnering & the Erick Hawkins technique). I liked how “real” everyone seemed and how that played out in their work. As I was seeking out companies to dance for after college, one of the things that drew me to Inlet was their strong education component. At that time, I was finding a lot of companies were either great at performing or great at educating, and very few were good at both. I loved that Inlet both valued them equally and did each component excellently.
Fast forward 15 years to today and I now serve as the Inflow Education Coordinator, as well as a performing company member. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of seeing countless lives changed—minds opened, talents discovered and developed, passions realized, perspectives changed, and hearts touched. From stories of school grades improving to grown men crying and everything in between, I love that our work allows people to see themselves. Our programs and performances are created in such a way to let people into our world of dance, expression and creativity; giving people an opportunity to experience dance in a way that opens up their own world to new and different possibilities.
Every season along the way has had its challenges and triumphs, but I’m excited to see the growth and can’t wait to see what the next season holds!
