Each month, we are going to feature the collaborators that helped make “The ‘Black Card’ Project” such a success. This month, meet Lee Harrill who composed the score used in the section, “Thuggin 101.”
“My name is Lee Harrill and I am the Lead Producer at Refresh Collective. I am a singer songwriter, music producer and musician. I’ve been around the Cleveland music scene for 20 years.
At Refresh Collective, I have had the opportunity to use my musical talents to serve hundreds of students in underserved communities in Cleveland. I love giving back to students and helping to elevate their voice in the city.
When Bill and Dominic asked me to compose music for “Thuggin 101” of “The ‘Black Card’ Project”, it was easy to say yes! Not only because of our friendship and connection, but because of the message of “The ‘Black Card’ Project.” I work with students every day who experience exactly what “Thuggin 101” portrays. There is an incredibly strong force pulling our students to street life. We have lost teens to this darkness, and seen some prevail over it. “The ‘Black Card’ Project” depicts so accurately the struggle and choices that our young black men deal with on a daily basis. I was honored to have an opportunity to play a small role in this amazing production.”
