The summer is definitely heating up, and so is Inlet’s calendar. We are officially entering Inlet’s FREE, outdoor performance season where several of the events happening are in outdoor amphitheaters and are free to the public. All performances are family friendly and involve the community a great deal! Here are some of the upcoming locations and dates where you can see Inlet perform everything from special event characters to evening concerts.
On July 7, Inlet Company Members, the Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program, and students of Inlet’s Summer Dance Intensive ’18 will all perform together for the Middleburg Heights SummerFest Parade and Festival held at the location of the new Middleburg Heights Library and Central Park. This is going to be such a fun day, and maybe you’ll spot a pop-up Inlet dancer parading around as a strolling character. If you do, snap a picture and tag us at #inletdance. Let’s see who can catch ’em all?
The following Saturday, July 14, Inlet will perform a double whammy. Starting off the day all Company members, Trainees & Apprentices, and Summer Dance Intensive ’18 students will perform for the Bastille Day Celebration in Wade Oval. All dancers will perform in the grass doing sculptures that are based on postures from French paintings of that period and about the storming of the Bastille that The Cleveland Museum of Art is curating as a specific self-guided tour connected to the event. The company will also perform a couple works from the repertory towards the end of the celebration.
That evening, Inlet Company Members will travel to Carrollton, OH for the Camp NEOSA Salvation Army Summer Arts Conservatory. First, the campers will get to know Inlet in a 2 hour Non-Traditional Partnering class. Then, Inlet will join them for dinner. That evening at 7:30pm, all campers and staff will watch a narrated education performance by Inlet Company Members.
July 18, Inlet will be performing in the Emergency Room atrium at The MetroHealth System Hospital main campus in Tremont. This performance is part of the Arts in Medicine Program headed by Director Linda Jackson. This will be Inlet’s 4th time performing with the Arts in Medicine Program. This performance is open to all patients, visitors, staff, and faculty as a way to increase healing, wellness, and engagement through the arts.
July 25 & 26 Inlet returns for the 18th year at Cain Park Evans Amphitheater featuring students of Inlet’s Summer Dance Intensive ’18, the Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program, and the Inlet Company Members. On July 25th at 1pm, Inlet will perform the annual Educational Matinee demonstrating all the components Inlet Dance Theatre employs throughout the Summer Dance Intensive. The Educational Matinee will end in the performance of two pieces incorporating all the components. On July 25th at 8pm Inlet Dance will perform the FREE, internationally-renowned Summer Dance Intensive Culminating Concert. Select Company Members will premiere new works on the students and the company will perform selections from its active repertory in this community favorite annual event.
On August 4, Inlet returns for the 3rd time to The Grove Amphitheater, after the addition of their new bandshell, for yet another FREE, outdoor performance. Featuring both Inlet Company Members and the Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program, this performance is family friendly–bring your lawn chairs, pack some snacks, and enjoy live art under the stars.
And closing out Inlet’s 17th season, on August 10, Inlet will be back in the Tremont for this annual outdoor FREE performance, Arts in August. This is a family friendly (and furry-friendly) performance in Lincoln Park. Cleveland Public Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan will curate each performance. This is fantastic series that is hosted by Tremont West partnered with Ward 3 Councilman Kerry McCormack, LAND Studio and Cleveland Public Theatre.
