Playhouse Square’s Dance Showcase
Inlet has officially entered the company’s 17th season, and it’s been jam packed. Inlet started the season with performing in Playhouse Square’s annual, FREE event, Dance Showcase on September 8th. Presented by Terry & Sheldon Adelman and Playhouse Square’s Community Engagement and Education, the evening was filled with a cast array of dance styles from Northeast Ohio’s finest dance companies. Inlet is thankful to have been apart of this evening again!
Cleveland Public Theatre’s Pandemonium: Unleash
The next night, September 9th, Inlet was across town at Cleveland Public Theatre’s annual fundraising benefit, this year themed – Pandemonium: Unleash. Inlet’s Joshua Brown and Dominic Moore-Dunson performed the newly created duet, “Walk With Me,” while the rest of the company performed as living dessert tables and dance party starters. Cleveland Public Theatre’s Pandemonium is considered the “party of the year” and this year definitely did not disappoint. The evening was filled with creativity, excitement, support, and of course, ART. Inlet is already excited for next year.
Hillsdale College, MI
Inlet was back on the road September 14 – 17 traveling to Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, MI performing an entire concert as part of the Hillsdale College Dance Department’s Performing Artist’s Series. In addition to performing, Inlet taught various master classes in Non-Traditional Partnering and Improvisational techniques, as well as site specific demonstrations inside the campus’ university center. Held in the Sage Center for the Arts, the FREE evening performance on Saturday, September 16 was packed with students and artists alike, some witnessing Inlet Dance Theatre for the first time.
Educational Concerts
Amongst all the concerts and touring, Inlet has also started 2 year-long educational residencies at both Newton D. Baker School of Arts and The Lillian & Betty Ratner School. These performances are geared to excite the students, faculty, and staff about live performing arts and the art-making process. Within the residences, the students are given tools to craft their own creativity and apply skills like teamwork and problem-solving into the process of working together as a group of young artists. Both schools will end with culminating performances allowing the students to show all they have learned throughout the year and premiere dances they create themselves!
